Hannah Simmons, HB from the EPA Region at East Championships 2009

The 2009 Eventing Committee welcomes you to our website.

150 competitors joined us at either the 2009 Championships East in VA (4 Preliminary teams, 6 Training teams, 9 Novice teams and 10 Beginner Novice teams) or the 2009 Pacific Coast Inter-Regional Championships in WA (2 Training teams, 3 Novice teams and 3 Beginner Novice teams). Thank you to all the parents who volunteered their time, and to the USPC staff who worked so hard to make both events such a success.

We are thrilled to report that the first placed Preliminary team in Virginia, winning the Grand Prix Award, has just returned from an exciting 10 day trip to Ireland. Watch this video of their escapades with the Scarteen Hunt. http://www.scarteen.net/page7.html

Coming to Championships is a major under-taking that requires months of preparation. You might even be planning ahead for 2010! Please understand that safety is our number one priority. For this reason, it is a good idea to get both of your USEA affidavits completed as soon as possible (required by the closing date, as a horse/rider combination as stated in the rule book, even on a substitute horse, if your horse were to go lame). Be sure to ride as many different cross-country courses as possible so that you can have a really fun and confident ride at Championships.

We look forward to seeing many of you at the USPC Annual Meeting in Houston, TX in January. Mark your calendars now for January 27 - 31. We will have many eventing sessions for you to enjoy, and can't wait to hear from keynote speaker Gina Miles about her 2008 Beijing Olympic Silver Medal experience. Her Olympic journal is linked on Articles Page.

If you have information about USPC sponsored clinics and other Eventing activities please send them in and we will add them to the USPC Organization Wide Calendar. We would like to encourage you to visit this page often and participate by sharing your comments or contributing information about clinics, activities or pictures!

Good Riding,

Katie Graham
